In an effort to meet you where you are, we will be publishing monthly words of encouragement by different contributing authors representing various ages and stages in life.
What happens when we receive the opposite of what we expected for our giving? What happens when we are met with rejection or even unappreciation?
Serving God is selfless, not self-centered. Rather than expecting something in return or serving only to make a good impression, we should have a pure-hearted servant’s attitude. Like Christ, we should serve out of love for God and for others. Jesus came to serve, not to be served (Matthew 20:28).
He has always and will always go above and beyond for us. As our key verse reveals, Jesus does more than we could ever ask or imagine. What if everywhere we went we exceeded people’s expectations as He did?
In our key verse, I adore the image of the Lord stooping down to look at the needs on the earth. This tender picture of God almighty coming down to meet us warms my heart and encourages me to mirror His behavior to the best of my ability.
The Lord told Moses to stop praying and get moving! Prayer has a vital place in our lives, but our prayers must be followed by action. He has put us on this earth to accomplish his will, not just pray about it.
